Dr. Adam Fahs is an orthopedic surgeon based in Detroit, Michigan. In December 2023, Dr. Fahs embarked on a critical medical mission to Gaza with Rahma Worldwide, a humanitarian nonprofit. For one week, Dr. Fahs and his team worked tirelessly at the European and Nasser Hospitals in Gaza, addressing severe injuries resulting from bombings and explosions. He treated patients with severe blast injuries, performed complex surgeries under dire conditions, and adapted to the depleted healthcare system with minimal supplies. Since responding to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Dr. Fahs has joined Doctors Against Genocide to speak out about what he witnessed and the types of patients he treated.
Dr. Karameh Hawash-Kuemmerle is a Palestinian American assistant professor in neurology and a pediatric neurologist at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hawash-Kuemmerle is the co-founder of Doctors Against Genocide. She is dedicated to mobilizing a global coalition of medical professionals, healthcare workers, and volunteers dedicated to preventing and stopping genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. She leads the Health for Palestine Pediatric Program, working with a team to deliver medical care and train community health workers in refugee camps focusing on health equity in low-resource, high-violence environments.
Dr. Alaa Ali is a Palestinian American urgent care physician based in Michigan, originally from Gaza. Having tragically lost a brother and many family members due to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Dr. Hussein-Ali is deeply committed to advocating for the protection of human life worldwide. As a board member of Doctors Against Genocide, he leverages his medical expertise and moral duty to combat genocide and war crimes globally. His work is a testament to his dedication to preserving life, driven by his medical oath and personal experience.
Dr. Nidal Jboor is a Palestinian American internist in Michigan and the co-founder of Doctors Against Genocide (DAG). Originally from Yatta, Palestine, and trained in Amman, Jordan, Dr. Jboor’s background influenced his commitment to medical care and human rights. DAG mobilizes healthcare professionals and volunteers globally to provide medical aid and raise awareness about human rights abuses. Under his leadership, the organization works to support international interventions and advocate for justice for victims of genocide.
