ArabCon carries forward ADC’s 45-year legacy of convening some of America’s most revolutionary voices and consequential leaders. Each year, ADC gathers community organizers, business leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders to address the urgent issues impacting our communities, our country, and the world.
ArabCon 2024 united prominent political figures, distinguished scholars, journalists, and influential cultural icons in Dearborn, Michigan—America’s largest Arab-majority city. The event opened with powerful remarks by 2024 Presidential Candidate Dr. Jill Stein and Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud.
Attendees heard from renowned scholar-activists Dr. Hatem Bazian, Khaled Beydoun, and Dr. Rabab Abdulhadi. Journalists Laila Al-Arian (Al-Jazeera), Said Arakat (Al-Quds), and Ryan Grim (DropSite) debated media integrity in times of censorship.
Legendary organizer Linda Sarsour gave us a lesson on lasting political movements, while acclaimed novelist Susan Abulhawa and civil rights attorney Huwaida Arraf illuminated the pivotal role of Palestinian women in resistance movements. Physicians from Doctors Against Genocide shared firsthand accounts from the frontlines of the genocide in Gaza, and student organizers from Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) discussed sustaining momentum on campuses nationwide.
The new generation of American leaders, including state representatives Alabas Farhat (MI), Ruwa Romman (GA), Iman Jodeh (CO), and Abdelnasser Rashid (IL), outlined community-centered political strategies and local movements.
ArabCon concluded with an unforgettable gala featuring stirring presentations from 2024 Presidential Candidate Dr. Cornel West, acclaimed poet and physician Dr. Fady Joudah, comedian Amer Zahr, and a special tribute to recording artist, Macklemore.
ArabCon 2024 highlighted collective resilience and energized a unified commitment to change— convening necessary conversations during the critical 2024 presidential election. ArabCon shaped public discourse, placing Arab American perspectives prominently into the national political conversation.
