Rev. Fr. Hrant Kevorkian, born in Anjar, Lebanon has been a devoted servant of the Armenian Church from a young age. Following his high school education, he pursued studies at Lebanese University before enrolling in the Theological Seminary of the Holy See of Cilicia, where he completed a specialized three-year program for the married priesthood. His academic journey continued with graduate studies in pastoral theology at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut. A talented musician, Fr. Hrant was actively involved in several choirs, including the Shnorhali Choir and Gomidas Chorus, and led both the Gakavig Children’s Chorus and Harach Youth Chorale in Anjar.
Ordained as a subdeacon in 2008 and a deacon in 2009, Fr. Hrant’s commitment to his faith culminated in his ordination to the married priesthood in 2010. His ordination ceremony, held at Sourp Boghos Church in Anjar, Lebanon, was officiated by His Eminence Archbishop Gomidas Ohanian and attended by esteemed clergy, marking the beginning of his pastoral journey under the name Der Hrant. Following his ordination, Fr. Hrant served in various capacities across the United States, including as a pastoral intern at St. Stephen’s Parish in Massachusetts and as Pastor at St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church in Wisconsin and St. Paul Armenian Apostolic Church in Illinois.
Since 2012, Fr. Hrant has been the dedicated pastor of St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church in Dearborn, Michigan. His service and leadership have been recognized by His Holiness Aram I, who awarded him the right to wear a Pectoral Cross in 2015. In addition to his pastoral duties, Fr. Hrant furthered his theological education by earning a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in 2022. He and his wife, Yn. Tamar Kevorkian, are proud parents of two children, Nareg Sebouh and Lori Aleek Kevorkian. Fr. Hrant continues to be a pillar of the Armenian community in Dearborn, fostering faith, culture, and community among his congregation.
